Deworm3 project is a study aimed interrupting the transmission of intestinal worms called soil-transmitted helminths (STH). It was launched in October 2017 in Mangochi (Namwera) and it is expected to run for 5 years (2017-2022). The project is being funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through Natural History Museum and the London School for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The study will determine whether community wide mass drug administration (MDA) of albendazole can interrupt the transmission of soil transmitted helminthes (Njoka za m’mimba).

Trachoma mapping is being carried out in Malawi after BICO staff conducted training in the region. BICO is assisting the Ministry of Health in implementing this research in Malawi. BICO has managed to map the whole of northern region and some few districts are remaining in the central and southern region.
